Islandia przyciąga podróżników jak magnes swoimi niesamowitymi, malowniczymi krajobrazami. Położona jest na “gorącym punkcie” Grzbietu Śródatlantyckiego i ma około 130, również czynnych, wulkanów. Największy z nich to Askja. To właśnie jego wybuch w 1875 spowodował deszcz popiołu w Sztokholmie.
Zgodnie z nazwą, Islandia także „kraj lodu” – około 11 proc. powierzchni kraju zajmują lodowce. Największe z nich to: Vatnajökull – 8300 km2.
Najwyższym szczytem kraju jest Hvannadalshnúkur, który wznosi się na 2109,6 m n.p.m.
Z Exploruj można wybrać się na trekking po najpiękniejszych zakątkach Islandii. Podczas niego odwiedzimy m.in. park narodowy Skaftafell oraz Landmannalaugar (Tęczowe góry), kanion Stakkholtsgja i kratery niebezpiecznego wulkanu Eyjafjallajokull. Na wyprawę zapraszamy nawet niezbyt zaawansowanych trekkerów. Wymogiem koniecznym jest posiadanie dobrej kondycji fizycznej.
